Policy Statement

Schewe Library is committed to offering the highest level of patron service to members of the Illinois College community. This policy outlines Schewe Library's service principles and services offered.

Service Principles

Schewe Library is committed to upholding the following service principles:

• Library personnel are responsible for providing high quality patron service and will be trained and empowered to make decisions that ensure a positive library experience for each patron.

• Schewe Library is committed to serving Illinois College students, faculty/staff, and members of the public.

• Schewe Library offers service to all patrons associated with the Illinois College community regardless of race, sex, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, age, marital status, disability, sexual orientation including gender identity, or any other criteria which might be a source of discrimination.

• The ultimate goal of Schewe Library's service efforts are to meet patron expectations while maintaining adherence to the library's mission and vision.

• Patrons with service complaints will be referred to the Library Director or their designee should the Library Director be unavailable.

Services Offered

Schewe Library provides the following [non-exhaustive list of] services to members of the Illinois College community, and selectively to members of the public:

• Physical material circulation.

• Provision and maintenance of online subscription material.

• Reference and research.

• Comprehensive literature searching for members of the Illinois College community and institutional bodies (i.e. committees, working groups, etc.).

• Credit-bearing instruction, single-session instruction, and classroom support.

• Technology assistance (including help with printing, scanning, faxing, etc.).

• Course reserves.

• Interlibrary loan.
