Hi Folks,
On this page you will find 3 handout/video pairs detailing the optimal ways to find and request books at Schewe Library, all through the Library Catalog. We discuss how to find physical books in Schewe, e-books in Schewe, and physical books from other libraries (I-Share).
A book making your argument could be very helpful for this project. It isn't always possible, however, that you'll find a book describing the precise argument of your speech, so be at peace with finding a book that only covers a portion of your topic. Part of college-level research is building bridges between point A and point B, and as such, you can't always expect to find all the information you're looking for in one "perfect" source!
Example Topic: Making Washington, D.C. a 51st state. For this topic, I-Share is going to be an excellent source, providing results like this. Sorting by "newest" will bring up the most recent publications on the topic. You might also try searching using topics such as "Statehood (American politics)," "Suffrage," or "Washington (D.C.)."
