The primary purpose of the Khalaf Al Habtoor Archives at Illinois College is to appraise, collect, organize, describe, make available, and preserve records related to Illinois College and the local community. Collected materials include official records from governing boards, campus offices, committees, and faculty and student organizations, unique campus community publications, local histories, and community organizations.
The archive collaborates and partners with classrooms across campus and disciplines to provide exciting active learning opportunities. It utilizes artifacts, manuscripts, and more to help create unique discoveries in and outside the classroom.
Student work, internships, and student-faculty research opportunities provide hands-on experience in preserving and sharing our history through inventories, digital projects, and more.
The Khalaf Al Habtoor Archives provides unique opportunities for IC faculty, staff, students, and scholars from around the world to conduct research with our collections.
In-person research requests are available by appointment. Please contact the archivist by email or phone to schedule an appointment or with remote requests.
Illinois College students interested in learning about student work opportunities can contact the Archivist.
As Archive Student Assistants, student workers employed with the Khalaf Al Habtoor Archives and/or Congressional Office Museum sign a learning contract which emphasizes professionalism, responsibility and engagement.
