Dr. John Coski
John M. Coski retired in 2022 after 33 years with The Museum of the Confederacy and the American Civil War Museum. He is author of The Confederate Battle Flag: America’s Most Embattled Emblem (Harvard University Press, 2005), Capital Navy: The Men, Ships, and Operations of the James River Squadron (Savas, 1996), and other books and articles. He earned his B.A. from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg and his M.A. and Ph.D. in American history from the College of William and Mary.
