Quick Guide to Library Resources: Getting Books from Other Libraries

Tips on how to access library resources from on or off campus

Getting Books from Other I-Share Libraries

You can search for library books that are available to you from other Illinois Libraries using the "I-Share Catalog" link on the library homepage I-Share Link. (See the instruction on how to log in to request books below.)

Once you find the item you need, you can request it using the "Request from I-Share Libraries"

NOTE About eResources in the I-Share Catalog: When using the I-Share catalog, it is essential that you make sure you have checked the box labeled "Hide eResources to which I don't have access". This box makes sure that you don't get a list full of books that aren't available to IC users.

Logging in to Request Physical Items

If you are planning to request a book from the Library Catalog or the I-Share Catalog, the process works best if you log in before you begin your search. You must be an Illinois College Student, Faculty Member, or Staff Member with a Connect 2 logon in order to use these features. If you have a question about your eligibility, please contact us at 217-245-3020.

To Log in, click on either the Library Catalog Icon or the I-Share Catalog Icon I-Share Catalog Icon

Once you click on the icon, there will be a login button in the upper right-hand corner of the page.

Click this button, and log on using your SSO information. This will bring you to your account page.

The very first time you access this page, you will need to click the "profile' button in the side bar on the right, and then follow the instructions to enter your last name and barcode number (from the back of your IC ID). You can also find your barcode number in the IC app, or on your digital ID on connect2.

Once you have entered this information and submitted it, you are all set and can begin searching for and requesting library books!
